# PdfWriter.BeginRecord Method 
 
Starts a new PDF/VT record, i.e. a group of pages sharing the specified DPart metadata.

 - dpartMetadata
     - Type: [Aurigma.GraphicsMill.Codecs.PdfVtDictionary](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_PdfVtDictionary.htm.md)
A [PdfVtDictionary](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_PdfVtDictionary.htm.md) with the metadata for the pages added until the matching [EndRecord()](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/M_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_PdfWriter_EndRecord.htm.md) call.
 
## Remarks
 Use [DPartMetadata](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_PdfVtOptions_DPartMetadata.htm.md) instead if you need to attach metadata to the whole document rather than to an individual group of pages.
