# SvgReaderSettings.ColorBitDepth Property

Gets or sets the bit depth used to read the colors of the SVG file.

**Namespace:** [Aurigma.GraphicsMill.Codecs](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/N_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs.htm.md)
 **Assembly:** Aurigma.GraphicsMill (in Aurigma.GraphicsMill.dll)

## Syntax

```csharp
public ColorBitDepth ColorBitDepth { get; set; }
```

### Property Value
A [ColorBitDepth](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ColorBitDepth.htm.md) value. The default value is [Bit8](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ColorBitDepth.htm.md).

## Remarks

With [Bit16](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ColorBitDepth.htm.md), the colors of fills, strokes, gradient stops, and `icc-color()` values are 16-bit colors. This keeps smooth gradients when you render the SVG file to a 16-bit image.

The colors of PDF and SVG images that the SVG file references are still 8-bit.

## Exceptions

|  Exception |  Condition |
| --- | --- |
 |  System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException |  The value is not a defined [ColorBitDepth](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ColorBitDepth.htm.md) value. |
