# ContiguousBackgroundRemoval.StepTolerance Property 
 
Gets or sets the largest color difference between a pixel and a neighboring background pixel for the pixel to be a part of the background.

## Syntax
  
```csharp
public float StepTolerance { get; set; }
```
 
### Property Value
The difference as delta E, in range `[0, 100]`. The default value is `6`.
 
## Remarks
 This value lets the background change smoothly, for example, in a gradient or a vignette. A sharp edge stops the background.
 
## Exceptions
