# ImageReader Class

Represents a base class for all image readers.

## Syntax

## Remarks
  
This class is derived by all image readers. It provides the following base functionality:
 
- Creating a reader on a file or stream with appropriate overload of [Create()](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/O_T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ImageReader_Create.htm.md) method. To check whether the reader is opened, use [IsOpened](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ImageReader_IsOpened.htm.md) property.
- Retrieving frames via the [Frames](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ImageReader_Frames.htm.md) property.
- Recognizing format of a file via the [RecognizeFormat()](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm/O_T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ImageReader_RecognizeFormat.htm.md) methods.
