# CustomEncoderOptions.SetMediaFormat Method 
 
Sets the unique media format identifier for the codec.

### Parameters
 
 - mediaFormat
     - Type: [System.Int64](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/6yy583ek)
Unique value corresponding to the format supported by the codec.
 
## Remarks
  
This method should be used in a constructor to set codec parameters.
