# CustomFormatReader.OpenReader Method (String)
 
Opens the reader on the specifed file.

### Parameters
 
 - fileName
     - Type: [System.String](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/s1wwdcbf)
Name of the file to open the reader on.
 
## Remarks
  
Usually, this method is a simple wrapper around the [OpenReader(Stream)](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/M_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_CustomFormatReader_OpenReader_1_bca7c9fe.htm.md) method.
