# CustomFormatWriter.CloseWriter Method 
 
Closes the format writer, and detaches it from a previously opened file (or other media).

## Remarks
  
This method is called by the [Close()](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/M_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_FormatWriter_Close.htm.md) method. Implement it when you write your own custom codec and need to release resources when the writer is closed.
