# MetadataDictionary.GetItemString Method 
 
Gets a string representation of the item with the specified key.

### Parameters
 
 - key
     - Type: [System.Object](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/e5kfa45b)
Key of the object to get or set. Typically it is a number that represents an EXIF or IPTC tag. Most used tags are available as static members of [ExifDictionary](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_ExifDictionary.htm.md) and [IptcDictionary](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_Codecs_IptcDictionary.htm.md).
 
### Return Value
A string representation for the item to get.
 
## Remarks
  
If at this key several values are stored, this property will return all these values concatenated into the single string separated by the whitespace.
