# StreamWrapper.Seek Method 
 
Changes the seek pointer to a new location relative to the beginning of the stream, to the end of the stream, or to the current seek pointer.

## Syntax

Public Overridable Sub Seek ( _dlibMove As Long, _dwOrigin As Integer, _plibNewPosition As IntPtr _
)

public virtual void Seek(long dlibMove,int dwOrigin,IntPtr plibNewPosition
)

### Parameters
 
 - dlibMove
     - Type: [System.Int64](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/6yy583ek)
Displacement to add to *dwOrigin*.

 - dwOrigin
     - Type: [System.Int32](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/td2s409d)
Specifies the origin of the seek. The origin can be the beginning of the file, the current seek pointer, or the end of the file.

 - plibNewPosition
     - Type: [System.IntPtr](http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/5he14kz8)
On successful return, contains the offset of the seek pointer from the beginning of the stream.
