# IListItem.Parent Property

Gets/sets a parent [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) control of this item.

**Namespace:** [Aurigma.GraphicsMill.WinControls](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/N_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls.htm.md)
 **Assembly:** Aurigma.GraphicsMill.WinControls (in Aurigma.GraphicsMill.WinControls.dll)

## Syntax

```
Property Parent As ThumbnailListView
```

```csharp
                ThumbnailListView Parent { get; set; }
```

### Property Value
 [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) which is an owner of this item. If **null**, the item has no parent yet.

## Remarks

Internal architecture of the [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) control requires all list item objects to belong not more than to to one control. Incorrect implementation of this property may lead to unpredictable results. You should not return **null** if the owner control is actually assigned.

Also, if it is necessary to dublicate the item into another [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) control, you should clone list item rather than use a reference to it.
