# ListColumn Class
 
This class represents a column of the [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) control.

## Remarks
  
Columns are displayed only when [ThumbnailListView](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView.htm.md) control is switched into details view mode (i.e. its [View](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_VirtualListView_View.htm.md) property is set to [Details](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_View.htm.md) value). Before using the detailed view, you should configure columns properly so that the control could be aware what details about the item to display.
 
To do it, the following should be done:
 
1. Get the collection of columns of the control using the [Columns](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListView_Columns.htm.md) property. It is empty by default.
2. Create an instance of the ListColumn class.
3. Initialize its properties, in particular [Width](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ListColumn_Width.htm.md), [Caption](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ListColumn_Caption.htm.md), and [TextInfoId](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ListColumn_TextInfoId.htm.md) which identifies a piece of data which should be displayed. If you use standard implementation of items (i.e. [ThumbnailListItem](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem.htm.md) class), you can use a number of constants - [TextInfoIdCreationDate](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/F_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem_TextInfoIdCreationDate.htm.md), [TextInfoIdDisplayName](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/F_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem_TextInfoIdDisplayName.htm.md), [TextInfoIdFileSize](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/F_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem_TextInfoIdFileSize.htm.md), [TextInfoIdFileType](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/F_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem_TextInfoIdFileType.htm.md), and [TextInfoIdPath](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/F_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ThumbnailListItem_TextInfoIdPath.htm.md).
4. Add this column instance into the collection using the [Add(ListColumn)](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/M_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ListColumnCollection_Add_1_2a29ac70.htm.md) method of the [ListColumnCollection](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gm5/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_WinControls_ListColumnCollection.htm.md).
5. Repeat these steps for other columns.
