# BitmapViewer.BrowserImageFormat Property

Gets/sets the file format of the images which are sent to the browser.

### Property Value
The file format of the images which are sent to the browser.

Available formats are [Jpeg](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gmwc/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_AjaxControls_BrowserImageFormat.htm.md) and [Png](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gmwc/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_AjaxControls_BrowserImageFormat.htm.md). **Png** is an image format that employs lossless data compression and supports palette-based, grayscale and RGB images. **Jpeg** is a lossy image format which compression quality can be specified by [BrowserJpegQuality](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gmwc/P_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_AjaxControls_BitmapViewer_BrowserJpegQuality.htm.md) property. If less compression is specified, an image file will have less size. Additionaly BrowserImageFormat property can be set to **Auto** and the control automatically determines the best image format in the following way. If the image loaded in the [BitmapViewer](https://www.graphicsmill.com/docs/gmwc/T_Aurigma_GraphicsMill_AjaxControls_BitmapViewer.htm.md) is indexed or grayscale, the control sends it to a client in **Png** format, otherwise in **Jpeg**.
